Creating Sustainable Thoughts-ACIM Lesson 48

There is nothing to fear.

Hmmm….Plagues. War. Petulance.

Excuse me Lesson 48, there is nothing to fear?!! You’ve gotta be kiddin’ me.

Buuuut Lesson 48 invites me to have another looksie. To choose again.

If my world is an out-picturing of my reality, for example, then I am always in choice.

So why would I choose all the anger. The unrest?

Well, that’s really just Pam Grout’s Asshat talking. My monkey mind. The small self’s idea of what it falsely believes the world looks like.

It sees ugliness and greed. And hatred.

But my Divine mind reminds me that there is more to the story.

Yesterday I was reading about an organization in my local area called Nourish KC. Nourish KC is a food resource program that rescues fresh, usable food and transforms it into hot, healthy meals for under-resourced individuals. Think bruised apples the grocery store won’t take. They use it. Last year alone this brilliant organization rescued over 500,000 pounds of fresh food for their program.

On top of this essential service, they train older foster kids via their Culinary Training Program so that they have marketable skills for life.

These programs are innovative. They are thoughtful. They build community in the best way possible. And they warm the cockles of my crotchety, sometimes fearful heart.

If Nourish KC kind find a way to reuse unwanted, perfectly good food, can I find a similar means to repurpose my fearful, bruised thoughts?

Lesson 48 (and the fabulous peeps at Nourish KC) remind me that we can choose to transform our lives from fear to love. By trusting that our Divine selves can reuse the old thoughts to create change. To sustain hope. To believe in ourselves and our fellow man. And to create a community of faith that can re-create a world where tummies are full, peace reigns and the bruises our thoughts sometimes contain can be used to create a joy and satisfaction in life beyond our wildest dreams.
