ACIM Rewind: The Gift of Forgiveness-ACIM Lesson 46

God is the Love in which I Forgive. [W-p1.46.6.1]

When I was a teenager, I had a friend. This friend was a loving, kind person. When she listened I felt unbelievably heard and seen.

This friend had a dysfunctional family. I can’t even imagine what her daily life was like.

At times this friend would act out. She would attempt to hold onto relationships which came into her life. Sometimes those she saw in mine which seemed to be just what she needed. At the time I called this trying to steal my boyfriends, or discussing my less admirable qualities with our mutual friends.

But, looking back, she was just trying to hold onto something that would provide her with the love she deserved. A love we are all Universally given from the Divine.

And, even greater than this revelation, my relationship with her was really just a mirror of the relationship I had with myself. Questioning my worth. Attached to what was.

Eventually we parted ways. But the truth of this interaction was that it taught me something about forgiveness. That, outside of condoning the behavior, we can love someone for who their Divine self is. Beyond the illusion of whatever we see before us. I can, on good days, take it a step further and ask what parts of me are out pictured in these situations I have yet to see.

This doesn’t mean staying in relationships that are toxic. Or failing to set boundaries. But it does mean understanding that none of us are separate. That we are all expressions of each other in some form. Just waiting to be loved for who we really are.

Lesson 46 asks me to forgive. To let go of the illusion of separateness and fear. And to accept the Divine in all. This includes (and this may be the hardest of all) forgiving myself. For not being the person I want to be (aka my Divine self), when I am with said person or situation.

Several times a day Lesson 46 suggests we remind ourselves that God-Universe is the Love by which we forgive ourselves. And every single person on this earth.

And, while I don’t always Love the version of myself I see in others. I can learn to Forgive the illusion of imperfection I choose to believe. To choose again to see my Divine self. And the Divine self (sometimes) hiding within the ones I see.

You are each Divine perfection, sweet friends. Namaste Light Workers!
